Overview
The Biologics Business Unit (called BU) of Intas Pharmaceuticals Limited was basically an independent biotechnology company. It was referred to as Intas Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. Intas Pharmaceuticals limited is COMPANY BASED ON INDIA headquartered in Ahmedabad, India. The BU was set up in Moraiya, Ahmedabad, and is one of the leading biosimilar product manufacturers in Asia.

The Biologics of Intas has operations of pharmaceuticals with an R&D space and an EU-GMP certified biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
History
Intas Biopharmaceuticals Limited was found out in 1980 by Dr. Urmish Chudgar, a top-ranked hematologist, as an independent biotechnology division of Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd mid-sized generic formulation manufacturer located in Ahmedabad, India. The division was mixed with the parent company Intas Pharmaceuticals Limited in 2013. Now, Intas Biopharmaceuticals is headed by Mr. Hasmukh Chudgar.

The company faced a Good Manufacturing Practice ( EU-GMP) audit in December 2006 to hunt approval for a clinical test of its biosimilar Filgrastim in Europe. It was certified as EU-GMP compliant in April 2007, becoming India's primary company to receive such certification.

Apart from EU-GMP certification, the corporate has approvals from MCC South Africa, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Syria, Yemen, Belarus, and several other national health authorities for its manufacturing facility and products.

In 2015, the corporate launched Accofil, a treatment for system disorders.In 2016, Intas acquired Teva Pharmaceuticals' assets within the UK and Ireland for $764 million.

In 2017, the corporate announced the acquisition of Actavis UK Ltd. & Actavis Ireland Ltd from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd for an enterprise value of GBP 603 million.
